Walking & Running Track Upgrade (650 metres) – LEADER GRANT Approval for €116K – Confirmed
What a great result.
The Walking Track will shortly be upgraded to a Polymeric Running & Walking Track and properly drained. What an incredible addition to the site. At a cost of €154K, the Club has been awarded €116K towards the project cost. Great news for the Club and everyone in the community.
FYI – since 2020, the Club has received grant funding to the tune of: €589,738 – incredible.
Thanks to Alison Keogh for all her assistance with the application and the committee for its consideration. We hope to compete this project late Summer of 2025.
If you want to know what ‘polymeric’ is, have a look at these photos:

What is a Polymeric?
The composition of a polymeric sports surface is essentially granules of rubber held together by a binding agent of polyurethane and sprayed with a high-traction, coloured top-coat. This composite is laid onto a solid base, principally tarmac, and retained by kerbing.
