Its 1983…Shergar, Eighth Amendment, Maze Prison escape, Glenroe, Lacken’s first County final and Blessington’s second Senior Title since 1916, or was it 1914 or 1915!??

Indeed Blessington were the first West team to win the Senior Wicklow Football Championship in 1916.

Blessington’s Pat O’Toole’s became the only man to captain two different Wicklow teams to Senior Football success. Dunlavin in 1977 and 83 with Blessington defeating Baltinglass, 1-10 to 1-06

The Junior B final versus Rathnew versus Lacken was played after the Senion Final which Lacken won, reffed by Aughrim’s Liam Keenan, Stratford’s Jim Cronin reffered the Senior with Blessington’s John Doran the Junior A Final, Kilmacanogue v Shillelagh.

Lacken defeated Kilmacanogue in the Swan Cup final to be officially crowned Junior Wicklow Champions for 1983 and went straight to Intermediate, skipping Junior A and winning the Intermediate in 1984. A great achievement.
